When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them.
Acts 2:1-3, NRSV
On Pentecost Sunday (6/9), NMO-UMC will present Share the Light: Pentecost Flames. You are invited to honor someone who is presently an important part of your life or someone who has passed away but influenced your life/faith in a meaningful way.
There is no set amount for a donation, just whatever you would like to give. All proceeds from this event will support the Roanoke District’s efforts to send solar-power kits to households in Vieques who have been without power since September 2017 when Hurricane Maria destroyed their power grid.
To participate, please complete the form that will appear in the bulletins for the next several Sundays (May 12, 19, 26, and June 2), attach your check to the form, and place it in the offering plate. On Pentecost Sunday, the first names of all honorees will appear on a special Pentecost banner that will be displayed throughout the summer. These names will remind us of those whom the Holy Spirit has placed in our lives to bring light and hope to us and the world around us.
